Our customers are introducing ever-larger ships on to the main Far East trade routes

DP World Southampton clearly understand the pressures they face to reduce costs and save fuel and our response is
to offer better productivity and flexible berthing windows when calling at Southampton.

To meet their needs Associated British Ports, as the port and harbour authority, has started on the construction of a
new 500 metre berth which will be capable of handling the world’s largest container ships. The project will also include
widening and deepening the main access channel to the container terminal.

When this major development is complete in 2014, Southampton will offer:

  • 1.87km of deepwater quay, with up to 16 metres depth alongside.
  • Berthing for vessels over 400 metres in length.
  • 16 quayside gantry cranes with super post panamax capacity.
  • All backed up by a fleet of flexible straddle carriers.
